Green & Healthy Homes Initiative Detroit-Wayne County (GHHI Detroit-Wayne County) participated as an exhibitor at the ARISE Detroit! 6th Annual Neighborhoods Rising Summit. The event took place on Saturday, November 7 at the Wayne County Community College District downtown campus and provided residents with workshops and presentations about how they could improve their neighborhoods.
GHHI Detroit-Wayne County provided attendees with information about green and healthy homes risks and what they could do to prevent these risks. Materials from GHHI Detroit-Wayne County partners including CLEARCorps Detroit, DTE Energy and Detroit Training Center were provided. CLEARCorps’ Detroit’s Buyer Beware! Booklets and Childhood Lead Poisoning 101 booklets were especially popular. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in drawings for free lead swab tests and home radon testing kits. Attendees were especially interested in learning about the Southwest GHHI program and were eager to know how it could be expanded into their neighborhoods. Overall the turnout was great and attendees were very excited about the work of GHHI Detroit-Wayne County!
